New work w/ Karl Van Welden

The MARS series focuses on human resistance against great physical forces. The performance MARS II investigates the impact of a rain of ash on music, and on the pianist performing the music. MARS III is a co-creation with pianist and composer Frederik Croene. This time Van Welden, together with Croene, takes climate change as point of departure. Nowadays the evidence for rapid climate change is compelling: global temperature rise, warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, glacial retreat, decreased snow cover, sea level rise, declining arctic sea ice, extreme events and ocean acidification.
